An Assistant Producer on Blue Planet II, Rachel Butler did original research to uncover extraordinary underwater stories, set up and direct shoots, and also got in the water herself — diving all over the world, from the Arctic Ocean to French Polynesia, from Norwegian fjords to the Great Barrier Reef.
"We can tell stories now that simply would not have been possible a generation ago. There has been a real "decade of discovery" and we now know a lot more about the oceans than we did 20 years ago. That science has allowed us to open that window and film what we hope you think are fantastic stories."
Blue Planet II reunites the golden trilogy of Hans Zimmer, the BBC Natural History Unit and Sir David Attenborough for an epic masterpiece. The Atlantic called it the greatest nature series of all time. A jaw-dropping seven part series, the film also shows why there has never been a more important moment to explore and understand Earth's imperiled oceans.
