Chris Fawcett’s numerous inventions are aimed at increasing human mobility and functionality. His Steadiseg invention allows camera operators to achieve new dimensions of mobility. The Fawcett Exovest is an ultralight semi-rigid exoskeletal vest that transfers the weight and torque of a Steadicam system to the user with greater comfort and maneuverability.
Chris graduated cum laude from Oxford School of Architecture, then specialized in human factors in oil-rig design with Earl & Wright Consulting Engineers. He subsequently worked as a musician, opera singer, and circus acrobat before moving into hostile environments camerawork for the BBC. Chris is an accomplished Steadicam operator and cinematographer who teaches courses on Steadicam around the world.
Chris Fawcett Garrett Brown are the inventors of a potentially important new mobility device, which Brown teased at EG10. Between them, Fawcett and Brown have more than 60 patents and they combined forces in 2013 to advance geriatric and re-hab mobility. For those battling age, injury and disease, their ‘Elevating Walker Chair’ elegantly bridges sitting, standing and walking. Now here, for EG12, is a first look at the joyful and startling ‘Zeen’—and a chance to take one for a spin during breaks!
