Rob Mies is a scientist who has focused his passion for bats on educating, entertaining, and motivating people to protect one of the most unique and misunderstood animals in the world. His energy and enthusiasm is engaging and captivating. Rob is able to take complex scientific information and explain it in an easy, understandable way. His charismatic on-screen appearances have garnered his non-profit organization great success over the last decade.

Growing up, Rob dreamed of protecting wildlife by working as an environmental lawyer and becoming a U.S. Senator. That changed while clerking at a law firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan when, on a lark, he decided to help a group of researchers studying bats in local swamps. He quickly became fascinated by bats–their unique night–loving lifestyle, the wide variety found around the world, the economic and ecologic services they provide, and the fact that many people hated and destroyed bats indiscriminately.  Rob decided to dedicate his life’s work to the protection of bats and has never looked back.

Rob founded the Organization for Bat Conservation to help protect these important animals. Over the past 20 years, he has written books, appeared on national television shows and traveled all over the United States exciting people about bats. His latest mission is to educate and inspire millions of people in North America to actively participate in the Save the Bats Campaign – a fun and simple solution to protecting bats and ensuring a healthy environment for all living creatures.

Register for EG 2020.

30 April - 2 May 2020

Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a superb program for EG2020. However, in light of growing and legitimate concerns regarding the rapid spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) which have gutted international events of all sizes, we have made the difficult decision to put EG on hiatus until it is once again deemed safe.

We know how much each of you look forward to EG and we were looking forward to seeing old friends, and welcoming many new ones, but we do need to prioritize the health and safety of our attendees, presenters, and partners, especially those traveling from afar.

We will be in touch in due course with future plans.
