Bob started life as a carpenter and will probably die a carpenter, but in the meantime, he became: a pilot; an astronomer; a sailor; a lousy musician; a good father (four kids); and an occasional architect. He is Managing Partner of Realm Partners LLC, a private investment partnership. Mr. Millard built and led the risk arbitrage/proprietary investing business at Lehman Brothers for over 25 years, the longest-standing such effort with a continuous team inside a Wall Street firm. (He did NOT put Lehman out of business. Others did that.) Bob is Lead Director of L-3 Communications Inc., and director of GulfMark Offshore, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the MIT Corporation (Executive Committee), is Chairman of the MIT Investment Management Company which manages MIT's endowment and chairs MIT's Physics Visiting Committee. He is on the Board of Trustees of The Population Council, and the Remarque Institute of New York University. He also serves on the Investment and Finance/Budget Committees of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Millard holds an MBA from Harvard University (’76) and a B.S. from MIT (’73), where he studied physics and architecture.
