Pete was the chief official White House photographer accompanying Barack Obama nearly every day for the eight years of his presidency. He also worked as one of President Reagan’s official photographers for five years. Nearly two million photographs later, documenting an astounding array of historic moments, his extraordinary book, Obama: An Intimate Portrait, debuted as the #1 New York Times bestseller. It has been flying off the shelves ever since.
Pete’s career has ranged far and wide, including projects for LIFE, National Geographic, the Chicago Tribune; a professorial career at Ohio University; and intrepid adventures, like crossing the Hindu Kush mountains on horseback in three feet of snow to photograph the fall of Kabul. His award-winning images have been seen in exhibits at the Smithsonian, the Corcoran Gallery, and the National Press Club (among other venues) and he has recently appeared on every major television network to share what he has photographed.
