Jane is an entrepreneur, board member, advisor, executive and investor active in industries including tech, media, food, health, education, arts and real estate.
Her current passion is the impact of technology on our health, and specifically, how biology and technology are fusing to help us live healthier, longer and happier lives. Drawing on her roots as a publisher, Jane is developing a new media company called NEO.LIFE to help make sense of the Neo-biological Revolution.
As Cofounder and former President of Wired Magazine, Jane and partner Louis Rossetto created Wired Ventures Inc., a diversified media company whose businesses included Wired Magazine (U.S., U.K., and Japanese editions), Wired Digital, including the search engine HotBot, and Wired Books. They were recently recognized for their creation with a Webby Award for Lifetime Achievement.
More recently, she was the President of TCHO Chocolate, a craft maker of super premium chocolate. TCHO debuted at EG in 2007, with a mission centered on teaching cocoa farmers how to produce better beans so that TCHO can make exquisite chocolate for consumers and food professionals. Since 2000, Jane has been a partner at Força da Imaginaçao, a business whose advisory and investment activities include media, technology, real estate and food companies.
Past and present board seats include the Stone Research Foundation, Wired Ventures, TCHO Ventures, the UC Berkeley Foundation, the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, the Expression Center for New Media, One Economy Corporation, ZeroOne: The Art and Technology Network, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
Jane graduated with honors from the University of Colorado with a degree in International Relations. She and Louis have two brilliant children she’ll tell you all about if you ask.
