Born and raised in Colorado, David spent his youth alpine ski racing and white water kayaking. He attended the College of Idaho on a skiing scholarship where he earned degrees in physics and mathematics. After college he moved to Wyoming where me met wildlife cinematographer Shane Moore and began working as his camera assistant. Over the next five years he worked his way up to Cameraman and Director of Photography. His credits include BBC’s Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Natures Great Events, The Hunt, Atlantic and Galatee/Disney Nature’s Oceans just to name a few. He also produced and directed the feature documentary One Mountain based on the story of a big-mountain skier. David has won four Emmys for cinematography. He now lives in LA with his girlfriend Cara Freeman and is working on the BBC’s Series Ocean (Blue Planet 2), Silverback Films Our Planet, Discovery’s series Deadliest Catch, and Bering Sea Gold.
