Brian Selznick

Brian Selznick is a writer, illustrator, and puppeteer. Hugo, the movie directed by Martin Scorsese based on his book The Invention of Hugo Cabret is the winner of five Oscars and he's also won the Caldecott Medal and the Texas Bluebonnet Award among other honors. He's made puppet shows about the first internationally famous male to female transexual as well as the 19th century artist who built the first life sized sculptures of dinosaurs. Brian lives in Brooklyn, New York and San Diego, California with his boyfriend David Serlin, Chair of the Communication Department at The University of California, San Diego.
