At age 27, Robyn set off alone across 1700 miles of treacherous Australian outback, accompanied by only four camels and her dog Diggity. Her adventure, captured by photographer Rick Smolan, was recounted in National Geographic Magazine and in her own award-winning book, "Tracks." The epic story was recently adapted for the silver screen: TRACKS, directed by John Curran, was released in 2013.
Much of Robyn's work has involved the extraordinary first-person experiences of nomadic peoples, including embedding herself with migrating Indians, an experience she wrote about in "Desert Places." She has studied nomadism in Australia, India, and Tibet.
